Wall-to-Wall Carpet Cleaning

Cunningham’s takes pride in bringing the life back to your carpets.  Our educated and certified team is dedicated to providing a service experience that doesn’t meet expectations, but truly exceeds them.  We clean with the industry’s best rated methods, maintain the highest level of equipment, utilize cleaning solutions that are both effective and safe, all while providing exceptional customer service.

Our Cleaning Method

We specialize in the carpet cleaning method rated #1 by the industry’s certifying body and most recommended by carpet manufacturers: hot water extraction.  Although alternative cleaning methods are being advertised more frequently, hot water extraction has been proven to most thoroughly remove contaminants, extend the carpet’s life, adhere to carpet warranty requirements, and best improve the environmental health of your home.

Using a truck-mounted commercial-grade unit, 240-degree water and cleaning solution is jetted into the carpet under high pressure and then extracted with high pressure, thoroughly rinsing the carpet fibers.  The steam created while cleaning has given this method the street name “steam cleaning”, though steam is just a by product of the hot water being used to clean.

Many stores offer portable extraction cleaning units for rent, but these units do not provide the high temperature and high pressure required for thorough cleaning.  For that reason, they do not meet the necessary “professional cleaning” required by carpet manufacturers to maintain carpet warranties.

Cleaning Solutions

Cunningham’s cleaning solutions are top rated for performance and safety.  We take great care in our choice of products, and wouldn’t use anything in your home that we wouldn’t apply in our own.

What’s Included in Our (not-so)Basic Cleaning Packages

Included in all of our cleaning packages is our highest level cleaning using hot water extraction, standard deodorization, pre-treatment of traffic and heavily-soiled areas, standard spot treatment, and removing/resetting light furniture.

In addition to our basic cleaning packages, we may recommend the following:

Heavy Stain Removal
While standard spot removal is included, heavy stains may require specialty removal treatments that are above and beyond our standard service.  When able, the technician on-site will let you know of stains that will require this extra attention and ask questions to aid in the removal such as the age of the spot, the cause, and any previous cleaning attempts.

Pet Treatment
Excessive pet stains and/or odor will require treatment with specialty cleaning compounds designed specifically to neutralize urine, feces, and odors.  This can assist with removing the scents that draw animals back to the same spot (though this can’t be guaranteed).  These treatments are priced per area (room).  If necessary, the technician will request approval for these treatments upon the initial walk-through during your appointment.  **Please note: Excessive pet urine may penetrate the carpet backing and absorb into the underlying carpet pad.  Since carpet cleaning (even done professionally) does not penetrate the padding, we may recommend that the carpet pad be replaced in heavily affected areas.

Fiber Protector
Fiber protector extends the life of your carpet and protects from spills and staining.  Carpet manufacturers may apply a protector during the manufacturing process, but this coating is not permanent and should be reapplied every 6 months, or after cleaning, whichever comes first.  Cunningham’s has over a decade of experience in textiles, and works with the leading brands of fiber protectors to provide the best options to our clients.  Learn more here.

Carpet: The Need for Clean

Did you know that carpet can hold as much as four times its weight in dirt, and possibly more? Carpets serve as a catch-all for dirt, with dust mites, pet hair, pet urine, dead skin cells, dust, insect feces, insect husks, bacteria, mold, volatile organic compounds, and many other types of allergens clinging to the fibers. Let’s take a look at some facts…

  • Your carpet could be up to 4,000 times dirtier than your toilet seat.
  • Shockingly enough, despite being your home’s biggest air filter, 4 out of 10 people have never had their carpets professionally cleaned.
  • The Norwalk virus or Norovirus (the virus that causes the stomach flu) can survive on uncleaned carpet for a month or more.
  • Microbiologists have identified air blown from a running vacuum cleaner as one of the five places in the home that has the highest number of germs.
  • A person sheds about 1.5 million skin flakes an hour, most of which becomes embedded in our carpets.

Despite all of this, properly cleaned carpet is shown to provide a healthier indoor air environment over hard surface flooring by filtering contaminants from the air. If you have kids, pets, or allergies; vacuuming at least twice each week and professional cleaning at least every six months is recommended to not only maintain health, but to extend the life of your carpet.
